This book is the cumulative knowledge gained through living in Thailand for eight years and traveling on a budget. It contains complete itinerary with logistics of a trip from Bangkok to the southernmost Thai island of Koh Lipe and then up along the Andaman coast and crossing over the Kra Isthmus and out onto the Gulf of Thailand. It contains notes on Chang and Samet and other islands. It is a kit in the sense that it tells you how to go about things, such as outfitting a hut with lights on the porch and how to avoid the rip-offs that can occur. Thousands of bits of pieces making up tips for travel in Thailand. While written by a budget traveler, it is also of value to the high-end traveler, who can use this kit to explore less commercial areas and as a guide to specific locations. It is not a mere listing of locations or a standard tourist guide that while good, often leaves tourists staring at a hundred places and not able to decide easily an accommodation or a restaurant. This is a ‘How to Guide,’ written by a guy who has stayed on islands many times, for up to eight weeks straight. He knows how to get what you want and how to take your trip to a higher level. Jack Wily, the author, is currently traveling in Thailand and will support you through email or guide services, if you desire, while you are here in Thailand. He might be convinced to give out his cell number. Jack is the author of a number of fiction books and stories. This particular book can be found on Amazon for 14.99 plus any related Amazon shipping charges. If you order directly from Jack, he will knock a dollar off the price and depending on location in America pick up the shipping charge or a percentage of it. The book will be shipped immediately on PayPal verification and probably it will arrive within 48 hours. Drop an email to Island of Sand Publications at islandofsand@yahoo.com if you would like a copy of the book, and after you have purchased the book, or if you have any questions. Your copy will be new and untouched by human hands ... except for the people packaging it that is. If you live outside the contiguous U.S. and wish a copy of the book, please email me for applicable shipping charges or order from Amazon. While I sit on the edge of the sea, I see a lot of hotel people walking by who are paying up to twenty times my cost per night, and while I, too, travel that way at times, I know and sometimes hear them say ... ‘We should try that sometime,’ and I wanted to tell them how and how trouble-free this kind of vacation can be, and that, along with my love of the sea, islands, and sky is what motivated me to write this book. Hope to see you out there ... and you know ... I just might.

This blog contains-buried on the Island of Sand in a treasure chest-five threads that can be separated out by clicking on the labels: Writing Craft, The Bazarre Tale of Golem L. Window-Island of Sand, The Non-Fiction Version of Island of Sand, Thailand Travel, and a writer's Journal. The chest itself is located not at the end of the rainbow but under its arc on Elephant Island. I buried it there. In front of the huts. The rest of the skeleton ha ha matey... I'll never tell. By the way, if you would like a paperback copy of my guide ... Thailand Travel Kit send me an email at islandofsand@yahoo.com and for those of you in the contiguous United States I will ship direct for about 13.99 (California, will inform if shipping cost exceeds limit for some states) Paypal available.

The Man with the Tattoed Head

What is it that causes a guy to tattoo almost his entire head, including his scalp? This man's face appeared grey as if he was imprisoned within his soul. Was his message that we should be judged not by our cover, but by our inner thoughts. Was it one man's way of saying to the world that he was done with the cover image? That if you wanted to accept him you had to look at him and see him as a human? As I looked at him I saw an image and then I wanted to get behind it. A novel might be written about a guy with a tattooed head. What had that head eyed in life that made him cover himself from head to foot (He had a full-body tattoe with the exception of the left upper side of his face. He was art moving through life. It begged a few questions. Where did he get his money. Were there people who wouldn't hire him? One could only imagine that if he walked down Hollywood Boulevard, he would be picked up immediately for a movie. I have never seen a guy with a tattooed head in a movie. For a million bucks would I tattoo my head and scalp? Yes, I certainly would. This after thinking that the fat kid in Charley's Chocolate factory had humiliated himself. But the tattooed head was different. It was an act of complete intention. The fat kid had somehow gotten fat, but he had not gone to a fat artist and asked for the body.

Island of Sand

Golem in a state of ecstasy, gets a tattoo in the middle of his forehead that says Yahoo and one centering on his naval. People stare at him funny now, but few venture into to asking him why he did it. They tell all their friends, though, in the Reggae bars late at night. The ink on his belly button reads only: Enter. If he was electric, you could do a search on him.

Visa Thailand

I went to the border at Ban Laem and reentered with a duel entry 60-day tourist visa. Payed two thousand baht for the van trip and Cambodia visa, includes lunch. Should have taken bus on own. On arrival visa is limited to 90-days total now and it is necessary to show a return ticket to your home country. They sell a 200 baht 'coupon' ticket for those without a ticket. I had the second half of the double entry visa left so didn't need the coupon. Should have gone on my own. But met a nonfiction writer and saw a guy with a full body tattoo, including half his head. He was bald and the tattoo ran covered his skull except for the left upper part of his face. Never saw anyone like that before.

Opt Ed/New York Times

I wrote a letter to the New York Times critisizing Bill O'reilly for lampooning the wife of Obama. She, like a slim fish in a sea of fat tunas stands there. I picture a woman of intellect. I see a woman, people see her. She is healthy. She has words to state. I see a woman so often hidden. I see Bill, who supports his nation much like Golem did before the wars. The wars. They were terrific. I too, wanted to love my nation, but could see the future. I wanted to love the future. I didn't want to love a nation for her past. I wanted to love her in the present tense.

Upcoming Trip to Koh Lanta

Standby for daily updates on Koh Lanta Island. It was hit hard by the tsunami, but is less developed than Phi Phi and hopefully has huts on the edge of the sea, where Golem likes to write his novel. While in the water at Koh Chang I noticed a video on the Tv in the front of the guest house on the shore. I saw an island, it was Koh Lanta and the video was a memorial to the victims of the wave. I was looking for another island as Koh Chang has been built up and the huts on the edge have been burned--in the novel, Golem burns them down in protest of the commercialization of the island. In there place now, in the real world is a construction site of another one of the ever increasing hotels on the beach. Jack was sad to see the bungalows go. Each year many of the occupants were the same. It was a special place to stay. But those days are gone.

Golem is Born Innocent/Society Creates Him

Society created Golem and now it will have to share the blame. He was and innocent kid born into a guilty world and it perverted his mind (Of course he sees himself as completely normal or knows he once was. Golem comes to see America as hopelessly handicapped by a Puritanical background. England may have a secret weapon. They exiled all the Puratins to America before the revolution. Like Russian spy plants they are now activating and picking up assault weapon's and committing mass killings in universities and malls. It is this Puritanical background that can not accept that a man sleeps with a women for orgasm. Turn your head and think of England. It is a Rome that gave rise to people who jump every trench and refuse imprisonment. It is the spirit of humanity that the American government is now trying to kill. We now have states that are prosecuting Seniors for sleeping with freshman girls. Isn't that a part of life? No wonder some do not make it through the system normal. What's next? Mandatory castration in Junior High? We now have web cams watching employees in cubicles. What's next? Web cams in the bedroom connected to government data bases? Don't write off Golem as crazy and hateful of his nation. He has a plan to save it. The fictional plan is the last resort (Plan A)

Inspiration

The rainbow on Elephant Island. Golem saw it after researching on the net and learning it was a symbol of God. It was just three weeks after reading about the rainbow that it appeared and motivated Golem to tell his tale. Venus was in the sky in twilight and as he returned from morning walks he felt parts of tale had been downloaded. He read of a scribe who was with Inana (The Goddess of Love). He felt that he was communicating with something that wanted the tale told no matter how grim parts of it were or how many people would be put off by criticisms of his nations society. It was simply a tale that needed to be told before it was too late.

Charley is a Devil

The thing is that Charlie is attracted to Golem because Golem chose to kill a girl that threatened to go public with a relationship. She was just seventeen. This would have been his second offense and it would have put him in jail for life. Just the same, the devil chose to enter him and now he hears voices in his head. "We're going to be the best of friends"

What Created Golem's Mind

Golem's activation was realized in an auto accident that nearly killed him. His hard drive was wiped clean and now good and evil reside in separate chambers. Good without evil and evil without good. Each entity acts without the other's knowledge. The good Golem sees the sand on the beach and beauty in the sky. The evil Golem puts a skewer in a Thai cooks brain and watches as her body quivers on a plastic chair. The two of them are representative of the result of political correctness and manifested in the real world by mall shooters and child kidnappers, people who can not make sense of the new America.

Who is Golem?

A three word question: Who is Golem? Golem is a techno genius who at the age of seventeen is involved in a head on collision that leaves him with no accessible memory. He is a blank slate and everyday society is writing on the board. His mind has two compartments. One of them is evil and one of them is good. The problem is each compartment is a seperate personality. He is ultra -good or ultra-evil depending on the state he is in and this isn't Kansas or Tennesee.

The evil side of Golem has attracted the devil. His resume was checked and double checked and the devil chose his over a lot of them. You see Golem was complicit in the murder of a seventeen-year-old girl in his office. He didn't kill her, but he let her die.

Vagina Monologs/ The Character of Golem

Someone said the horrible v word on national TV. I ran through the list of dirty words mentally and could not come up with the horrible word. I was amazed to find that it was vagina--the cleanest word if not the scientific word for the item. This is how Golem's mind differs from the mind of his nation. The collective mind. The one that is shocked when the V word is mentioned on TV. Golem didn't realise that it was a dirty word.
