The Animals in the Zoo

I got around to reading the Satanic Verses and while reading about the possibility of sudden mutation saw that the world was inseminated. That each organism holds the possibility of all the others. That if the earth was destroyed and a single bacteria remaining people would evolve again. I saw a lot of stuff in an instant. I saw that like a twig, giving growth to a tree, a seed, a bacteria could give rise to man. Everything needed was there in some simple form in that DNA. Is this why when looking at animals in the zoo we see something that all of them have in common with us? Is it not because each and every one of them is a part of us? On some level I imagine that we photosynthesize. That we absorb energy from the sun - that monkeys almost made it to human hood.
