The Link Above ... and then on to the Blog

This book is the cumulative knowledge gained through living in Thailand for eight years and traveling on a budget. It contains complete itinerary with logistics of a trip from Bangkok to the southernmost Thai island of Koh Lipe and then up along the Andaman coast and crossing over the Kra Isthmus and out onto the Gulf of Thailand. It contains notes on Chang and Samet and other islands. It is a kit in the sense that it tells you how to go about things, such as outfitting a hut with lights on the porch and how to avoid the rip-offs that can occur. Thousands of bits of pieces making up tips for travel in Thailand. While written by a budget traveler, it is also of value to the high-end traveler, who can use this kit to explore less commercial areas and as a guide to specific locations. It is not a mere listing of locations or a standard tourist guide that while good, often leaves tourists staring at a hundred places and not able to decide easily an accommodation or a restaurant. This is a ‘How to Guide,’ written by a guy who has stayed on islands many times, for up to eight weeks straight. He knows how to get what you want and how to take your trip to a higher level. Jack Wily, the author, is currently traveling in Thailand and will support you through email or guide services, if you desire, while you are here in Thailand. He might be convinced to give out his cell number. Jack is the author of a number of fiction books and stories. This particular book can be found on Amazon for 14.99 plus any related Amazon shipping charges. If you order directly from Jack, he will knock a dollar off the price and depending on location in America pick up the shipping charge or a percentage of it. The book will be shipped immediately on PayPal verification and probably it will arrive within 48 hours. Drop an email to Island of Sand Publications at islandofsand@yahoo.com if you would like a copy of the book, and after you have purchased the book, or if you have any questions. Your copy will be new and untouched by human hands ... except for the people packaging it that is. If you live outside the contiguous U.S. and wish a copy of the book, please email me for applicable shipping charges or order from Amazon. While I sit on the edge of the sea, I see a lot of hotel people walking by who are paying up to twenty times my cost per night, and while I, too, travel that way at times, I know and sometimes hear them say ... ‘We should try that sometime,’ and I wanted to tell them how and how trouble-free this kind of vacation can be, and that, along with my love of the sea, islands, and sky is what motivated me to write this book. Hope to see you out there ... and you know ... I just might.

Short Story- A Thai Girl on Samui

Thailand Travel Kit: Huts, Trip Itineraries, and Tips for the Budget or Upscale Tourist by a Thailand Insider who has lived in Thailand for 8 years by Jack B. Wily ... see you in Thailand ...

Short Story

This is going to be a short story because the events happened over just two weeks. I met a Thai girl on the internet-okay-so maybe I met three. One of them is not a part of the story, but she did come back into the scene after two months-yesterday-on the internet website where I met her. I saw her once. She never contacted me again. Yesterday I got a message asking me for money...

So maybe that is the beginning of the story, so now its time to move to the middle. Approximately in the middle another girl on the said internet site was met and made love to. That was okay. Let me introduce the third girl: a little bit Thai mafia. I met number two and three at about the same time. Anyway the mafia chick lives on Samui and the hair stylist lives in Bangkok. I was about to take a vacation and I usually go to the islands and the mafia chick came to Bangkok and we stayed together a couple of times... she says I can stay with her on Samui if I pay a months rent. Okay, seventy dollars is not a lot of money and she says we can sleep together. So I went.

On top of that she says to me in Bangkok that it isn't going to be a boyfriend girlfriend relationship, which is exactly what I was about to ask her, and I liked the answer. I'm not much into the boyfriend girlfriend routine at the moment. It sounded good. I went to Bangkok (I was living a bit outside at the time) and stayed with the hair stylist while I waited for a visa. I was going to stay with the hair stylist for a couple of nights at the most, but the visa took ten days.

A little past the middle of the story: the mafia girl calls me constantly and my Nokia phone is set to silent mode-but rings anyway (Nokia-you are responsible for this.) I mean why does a fucking phone say silent mode and then ring... okay, now I know. Silent mode is programmable. A total dork can make silent mode ring...

Anyway the phone rings a few times and the hair stylist hears me talking to another girl. She says I should marry her. Once, as I talked with the mafia girl the hair stylist said something in Thai. Enough that the mafia girl knew what was going on... I'm glad someone knew what was going on.

I joked a few times on the phone with the mafia girl. I told her I wanted ten babies. She asked me about that while the hair stylist was listening. I said... Don't worry my baby. That drove the hair stylist up the wall. I had to listen to 'Don't worry my baby' a gillion times over the next few days.

So anyway, I get to Samui island. I stay with the mafia girl. She doesn't have much in the room. She sleeps on the floor. She pissed because of the hair stylist. She fixes a good diner on the first day-really good Thai food. I enjoyed it. But I just came to an island and I drank over the next few days and that made her more angry. I think. It's a theory. It bothers me just because it may be something she has on her side. Maybe I hurt her feelings.

She starts asking me for money. She won't sleep with me much. I buy her a bed. I am 500 dollars into the situation. The next day she says she wants to go shopping and doesn't want to pay... that's about a week into the story on Samui. I say I want to go to the beach... and you know what... I don't want to pay either.

In Bangkok she has made off with my Ipad. She has it hostage. I don't know where it is, but I came here because she called and said she doesn't want the Ipad, she just wants to see me in Samui. I believed it. Maybe I still do.

Ipad or no Ipad thoughts of beating her with a stick were entering my mind. She refused to sleep on the mattress because I wouldn't go shopping with her. Anyway, she went someplace the next morning. I walked 11 kilometers and found a beach. I took a truck back, packed up my stuff, and Ipad or not I got the hell out.

She calls me twenty times a day.
