i started staying on the islands of thailand about 11 years ago... about maybe eight years ago i started sitting staring at the sea and i felt an underlying problem with american society... something pulled at my soul... i mean all the time someone was shooting someone. amongst those of us who lived abroad there were those who knew something was wrong. i began to write Island of Sand-a novel about a fragile economy that collapse. about a computer programmar, who disgruntled with politics, plots to kill a billion people with cyanide laced modems that his company gives away for free.

a few years later the economy collapsed and my worst nightmare started to come true and now everyday the situation is being analysed upside down. the charts. the numbers.

that wasn't what i was thinking about then... the economic situation... exactly... i was thinking about culture and society and i still think that the problems in america today have all to do with sociology and culture and that the rest takes care of itself when these problems are solved.
